On October 8th 2007 at 5:33 PM, Fairview was dispatched for a garage fire at 112 East Dorsey Lane. A second alarm was struck at 5:37 PM. The first arriving engine and truck companies found a 30' by 30' 1-1/2 story wood framed detached garage fully involved with fire. There was also an exposure of another garage on the B-side of the structure. Firefighters initially darkened down the fire with the deck gun on 41-11. Then two 1-3/4 inch handlines, one 2-1/2 inch handline and one 2-1/2 inch line with a Blitz-Fire were put into operation. City of Poughkeepsie Engine 2, Arlington Fire and Roosevelt Fire were on scene to assist with operations. Water was on a limited basis due to the fact that this part of the district does not have hydrants. A water shuttle was set up and worked well. Pleasant Valley also aided with their 1800-gallon tanker. The fire was under control within 40 minutes of arrival. All photos by Jim Tompkins.
