The fire station is our home away from home. Four firefighters staff this station 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Please take a look around.
Fire Station
Our fire station is located at 258 Violet Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Large Bay
The large bay houses 41-11 (Engine), 41-12 (Engine) and 41-45 (Ladder)
Small Bays
The small bays house 41-71 (Ambulance), 41-72 (Ambulance) and 41-97 (Command Vehicle)
Front Lobby
Immediately to your right when you enter the front door is the front lobby. From here you can get to the front office and restrooms.
Watch Desk
Firefighters train, monitor radio traffic, and write reports in this part of the station. Maps of the area are also located in this room.
On Duty Gear Rack
Firefighters that are on duty hang their firefighting gear up here when they are not out on an alarm.
Meeting Room
The large meeting room is located on the second floor of the fire station. Monthly meetings and special events are held in this room.
Classroom
The training classroom is located in the basement of the fire station. This room is equipped with a screen and projector.
Training Prop
This training prop is designed to practice several different scenarios. Firefighters can practice climbing through a window, climbing in between wall studs, and forcing open a locked door.
Ladies Auxiliary Kitchen
This full kitchen is located off of the meeting room upstairs. The kitchen is used to prepare food when events are held upstairs.
Kitchen
The kitchen is located in between the watchdesk and bunk room. Firefighters prepare and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in this kitchen.
Locker Area
The locker area is where the career firefighters keep their personal belongings. This area is located in the workshop room behind the small bays.
Bunk Room
The bunk room is located off of the kitchen. Between the hours of 11:00PM and 7:00AM, the firefighters are allowed to sleep when they are not out on alarms. This room also serves as a food pantry.
Fitness Area
Firefighter is a very physically demanding job. This area is located in a building behind the fire station. Here firefighters may exercise.
Gear Storage
When the career firefighters are not on duty, they hang their gear up along this wall.
Workroom
Firefighters maintain, clean and repair equipment and tools in the work room.
