February 5, 2014: Permissive referendum
By resolution adopted on February 4, 2014, the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Fairview Fire District authorized the purchase of a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe, equipped as a specialty service vehicle, to replace the District's 2002 Ford Explorer, which has been declared surplus to the needs of the District, and may be sold or traded in for fair market value. The Board of Fire Commissioners authorized the withdrawal of up to $45,000 from the Apparatus and Equipment Fund to pay for the vehicle, which withdrawal is subject to permissive referendum.
January 6, 2014: District to install smoke detectors for elderly
The Fairview Fire District is beginning a two-month project to inspect and install smoke detectors in homes within the District owned by residents 65 years old or older. For details, see today's press release.

The Fairview Fire District is located in Dutchess County, New York. We protect the Northern part of the Town of Poughkeepsie and the Southern part of the Town of Hyde Park in New York. The district is four and a half square miles large. There are homes, businesses, colleges, schools, health care facilities and more in the district.
