Notice of Discontinuation of Absentee Voting in Fire District Elections

Pursuant to Town Law 176-b, the Board of Fire Commissioners adopted Resolution 2009-8-L to authorize the use of absentee ballots in Fire District elections.  Upon review of the voter participation by absentee ballot in the last two elections, the Board determined that due to low voter participation and cost, it would be in the best interest of the District to rescind Resolution 2009-8-L, and did so by resolution adopted at its October 6, 20206 meeting. 

In accordance with Town Law 176-b, the use of absentee ballots is therefore not authorized in District elections after November 28, 2026.
